April 29, 2025 - Zoning Bulletin: Signs

Ever wondered what rules apply to the local lawn signs around town? What about the billboard on that one local business? With election season in swing, we've developed a helpful guide for residents and business owners to better understand the sign bylaws in Boxborough.

Please CLICK HERE to view the full zoning bulletin.

This guide features helpful instructions and guidelines, but is not all inclusive of the bylaw. If you have a sign question or would like to erect a permanent sign on your property, please contact Ed Cataldo by emailing ecataldo@boxborough-ma.gov.

April 14, 2025 - Boxborough Office of Land Use and Permitting to begin study of a Town Conservation Agent and Sustainability Coordinator

The Office of Land Use and Permitting is excited to announce the start of a multi year process, exploring the implementation of a Conservation Agent and Sustainability Coordinator in Boxborough. While we do not expect to hire such a position for at least 2 years, this position is necessary to support the community.

A Conservation Agent serves as the frontline support for wetlands protection, monitoring of conservation land, and protects the endangered species of a community. Simultaneously, a Sustainability Coordinator explores grant funding, shepherds the town as a green community, and continues to explore new ways to conserve energy and resources.

Throughout the Summer of 2025, the Director of Land Use and Permitting will meet with local stakeholders to develop a job description and goals for this joint position. The job description will be submitted to the Personnel Board later this Fall, with a wage study to be conducted in the Winter.

“While I do not expect to fund the position for at least 2 years, I believe this joint position is imperative to the success of Boxborough. Through support of both the Conservation and Sustainability Commissions, this position will make Boxborough a better place to live. I look forward to engaging the community in this process and working with the entire Land Use and Permitting team to provide the highest level of support and customer service.”    - Alexander Wade, Director and Town Planner
