Fire Station Building Committee
The Fire Station Building Committee is an advisory committee charged with overseeing the design and construction of a new Firehouse. The Committee consists of various Town Officials and residents appointed by the Boxborough Select Board.

2nd & 4th Thursday of each month at 7 PM. Meetings are hybrid and televised. See Calendar.

2026 Milestones
January 8 - Fire Station Building Committee voted unanimously to recommend 984 Mass Ave as the best location to build the town's new firehouse.
2025 Milestones
November 13 - The Fire Station Building Committee has narrowed down to three sites and will be doing further engineering study on two of them to make their final decision. The final three sites under consideration are 984 Mass Ave., 1300 Mass Ave, and 72 Stow Rd.
August 14 - The Fire Station Building Committee reached a consensus in identifying and prioritizing the firehouse property sites.
July 24 - Fire Station Building Committee meeting, continued discussion on path forward; added 40 Cunningham Road to sites being researched.
July 10 - Fire Station Building Committee meeting, continued discussion of path forward and sites being research.
June 30 - Committee members hosted an invited Listening Group to discuss: 1) size/cost; 2) site; and 3) process going forward for a new firehouse; this focused on size and cost.
June 26 - Fire Station Building Committee meeting on path forward; sites considered - 700-832 Mass Ave, 1300 Mass Ave, 1414 Mass Ave, 502 Mass Ave, and 72 Stow Road; Committee voted to extend the contract with Context Architecture on an as-needed basis.
June 21 - Committee members manned a spot at Fifer's Day to talk with community members about a new firehouse.
June 17 - Joint Meeting of the Select Board, Planning Board and Fire Station Building Committee regarding zoning issues.
May 12 - Special Town Meeting Warrant Article 2: 72 Stow Road Firehouse Design & Bid Funding Vote Result The motion failed, as it did not meet the required two-thirds majority (204 Yes, 133 No).
May - Public Forum regarding upcoming firehouse vote at ATM (Town Hall) 10 AM.
April 28 - Public Forum regarding upcoming firehouse vote at ATM (Sargent Memorial Library) 10 AM & 7 PM.
April 11 - Produced video with information for Annual Town Meeting.
April 7 - Fire Station Building Committee hosted residents of Boxborough Meadows to share information and answer questions about the proposed firehouse on 72 Stow Road. Other community members participated via ZOOM.
March 20 - Final Site Selection Matrix voted on March 20, 2025.
March 20 - The Fire Station Building Committee voted (7-0-0) unanimously to recommend 72 Stow Road site selection to the Boxborough Select Board.
March 13 – Phase II Site Selection Matrix results from the March 13, 2025, meeting.
February 13 - Committee approved the short-term design site calendar.
2024 Milestones
December 5 - Established the site selection criteria for Phase II
November 21 - The committee unanimously voted to proceed with sites 502 Massachusetts Avenue and 72 Stow Road into Phase II for further engineering analysis. Site selection matrix (round one - final).
October 16, 22, & 23 - The committee held a series of public outreach forums.
October 10 - The committee moved to drop further study of 975 Mass Ave.
October 9 - Executed Site Analysis Contract for Design Services.
October 7 - Stow Road site visit with neighbors.
August 29 - The Committee voted unanimously to recommend continuing with Context Architect.
August 19 - Select Board appoints Alan Ford.
August 12 - Select Board appoints Larry Grossman.
August 5 - Select Board approves Vertex Companies, LLC, for the OPM position, subject to final reference checks and successful contract negotiations.
July 31 - Committee motioned to recommend that the Select Board hire Vertex Companies, LLC, for the OPM position, subject to successful contract negotiations.
July 23 - Committee selects Chair, Vice Chair and Clerk
